Mary and Jim welcome you to Shealane Country House to enjoy the unique experience of staying in this Island home on the natural unspoilt and scenic Valentia Island, off the South West coast of Ireland. The country home itself boasts an extensive breakfast menu catering for all tastes including Vegetarian, and has TV, lounge private gardens for guests use, while there are restaurants and traditional music near by.

Shealane Country House is ideally located on the road bridge entrance to the Island 1 km from Portmagee Village on the mainland and 7 km from the car ferry at Knightstown on the Island, adjacent to the Skellig Experience Centre.
This modern visitor centre, open 10 am to 7 pm daily, tells the story of the Skellig Islands and has a craft shop and cafe. After the show, visitors are taken on a 90 minute cruise around the Skelligs. Also on the island, see the disused slate quarry with grotto, and the site of the long abandoned Western Union cable station, the site where the first trans-Atlantic cable came ashore in 1866.

You are guarantee personal attention and Irish hospitality at its best, and after a relaxed and peaceful nights sleep and a hearty breakfast you are ready to explore the Island, perhaps taking a walk to Bray Head to see the wonderful view of Skellig Rocks, the Basket Islands and Dingle, or the spectacular rolling cliffs.
